Sipadan Water Village is located on the island of Mabul, off the east coast of the Malaysian state of Sabah (Borneo). The easiest route to Mabul Island is to fly to Tawau from Kota Kinabalu (the capitol of Sabah in East Malaysia). At the Tawau airport, you will be met and transfered by air-conditioned coach to Semporna, a trip of about two hours. From the picturesque fishing town of Semporna, a fiberglass speed boat takes you to Sipadan Water Village resort on Mabul Island. In the typically calm seas, this scenic boat ride takes about 30 minutes. All in all, getting there is NOT as complicated as it sounds. The resort is dubbed a "Water Village" because it is built entirely on pilings - connected to the shore by a long pier. There are a total of 35 rooms -- 2 Deluxe Water Cottages, 27 Standard Water Cottages, and 6 Junior Water Cottages (semi-detached).
The rooms include ceiling fan, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, and private shower with hot and cold water. The Deluxe cottages add a bath tub and mini bar.
Sipadan Water Village provides 24-hour staff on call, airport transfers, babysitting services, resort Medical Services, a full-service Dive Centre, foreign currency exchange, a resort mini-mart, and travel and tour desk. The main restaurant serves daily buffets for guest featuring a variety of Asian and Continental cusines An open-air bar and lounge provides a breath taking sea-view, piped music and videos for guest entertainment.
